Czech Records: Rosa Francisca Spohr

I’ll start with the children of Karl Spohr and Ludmilla Breinl, my 3rd great grandparents. Before my parents went to the Czech Republic, we knew about their son, Ludwig (my 2nd great grandpa), and their daughter, Amalie Spohr Schaefer. But my parents also found the records for two other daughters (both who died as babies): Rosa Francisca and Ludmila (that’s right – the mother’s name is spelled ‘Ludmilla’ and the daughter’s name is spelled ‘Ludmila’). And it was also very interesting to find that Amalie Spohr Schaefer’s name was actually Mathilda Amalia Spohr – so apparently she went by her middle name.

Here is the record for Karl and Ludmilla’s eldest child, Rosa Francisca Spohr:

(In many of these records the recorder went back in later and recorded the death date of the child – this has been done in the column under the child’s name, when they write the little symbol that looks kind of like a little cross). You can see that Rosa Francisca died on 16 December 1865, when she was only 13 days old.
